In honour of the “Hanami” poetic rendezvous, Guerlain is revealing a new limited and numbered, exceptional edition of Cherry Blossom, the iconic floral fragrance. For its 2024 Millésime, Guerlain has partnered with the French jeweller Philippe Ferrandis, who enhances the emblematic bee bottle with a ring decorated with two Sakura flowers with mother-of-pearl reflections and set off with sparkling crystals. Every year when the cherry trees begin to blossom, the Land of the Rising Sun gathers to celebrate the cultural ritual of Hanami, literally “flower watching”, an age-old tradition offering an invitation to contemplate the world and its beauty. These ephemeral corollas with snow-white petals give Japanese culture one of its most tender and poetic customs. It is a feeling that has always driven the Master Perfumers, whose skill lies in capturing those moments that a scent will render timeless.
A FRESH AND FLORAL FRAGRANCE THAT CAPTURES THE MOMENT
A virtuoso tribute to sakura blossoming, Cherry Blossom expresses in its notes all the emotion of a world that we contemplate. Linked to a green tea accord whose freshness evokes the memory of spring mornings, the bergamot illuminates the fragrance with its sun-kissed radiance. Like a declaration of love, it unfolds in her heart the petals of a cherry blossom note, in harmony with the delicacy of lilac accord, the purity of jasmine accord, and the lightness of white musk notes.
PHILIPPE FERRANDIS, A DARING JEWELLER
Philippe Ferrandis, a French jeweller, has been cultivating what he likes to call the essence of rarity at the heart of unique pieces for more than thirty years. The designer works to enhance what nature offers him, fashioned semi-precious stones that he sets in metals, which he carefully shapes to create a beautiful decorative effect. Fascinated by the flowers that he crafts over the course of seasons and collections, the encounter between the multi-faceted jeweller and the House of Guerlain is thus offering the 2024 Millésime a blooming showcase.
A PRECIOUS JEWEL ADORNED WITH FLOWERS AND CRYSTALS
The House’s signature bottle is adorned with a ring revealing two precious sakura flowers enamelled in pale pink, finely gilded in 24-carat gold and set off with sparkling crystals. For the first time, the ring is not merely an ornament for the bottle but also an item of jewellery to be worn. Created by Philippe Ferrandis, this ring is both a tribute to Hanami and a declaration of love to the season of flowers, the Cherry Blossom fragrance, and the iconic bottle.
THE ART OF EXCEPTIONAL JEWELLERY
Once the cherry blossom has been set down on paper in a sketch, each piece is hand-crafted in Philippe Ferrandis' Parisian ateliers. The metal flowers are thus sculpted one after the other with the precision of a flame. Hand-polished to reveal its radiance and adorned in fine 24-carat gold, the ring set with white and rosy-toned crystals, is finally given the most beautiful of enamel coats. Using the ancestral "barbichage" technique, the Dames de Table of the Guerlain Ateliers comb the silk threads one by one with art and precision into a vaporous fan shape, before affixing the ring around the neck of the bottle as the final touch to this exceptional edition.
